Position Purpose:
Developmental opportunity for an HR professional, supporting a dynamic organization with 200+ employees. The HR Generalist will report to the Human Resources Business Partner and will provide end-to-end generalist support in a multi-location facility. The HR Generalist role requires a highly-capable generalist with strong results orientation, collaboration skills, and multi-tasking abilities. The HR Generalist will support all aspects of human resources with a particular focus on workforce development, payroll, employee relations and compliance with labor agreements. Business and community partnership experience is essential to the success of this role. Manages processes, programs and functions to ensure the most effective delivery of human resources services in support of the Milwaukee Project operations.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Managing all phases from external/internal recruitment through on-boarding and new hire processing.
- Confers with Human Resources Business Partner to identify personnel needs, job specifications and duties, qualifications, and skills.
- Assists Human Resources Business Partner with grievance tracking, meeting coordination, and negotiations. Responsible for timely and accurate processing of all personnel information and data changes using the Veolia corporate shared services center systems.
- Collects, organizes, and alayzes various HR Data. Prepares reports and records on assigned activities for management.
- Advises employees on HR related policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with all Company policies and practices, consistent with company objectives, government regulations, and labor contract terms.
- Maintains HR database (HRIS, spreadsheets, employee files). Coordinates and participates in HR related training programs. Coordinates training activity with HR Manager and corporate training group as directed. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual training reports for project client and Veolia corporate.
- Assist in identigying and correcting payroll discrepancies.
- Support Workforce Development (WFD) programs and initiatives.
- Attend career fairs and community events; Visit local skills and universities for branding and recruitment purposes.
- Update Job Descriptions and Physcial Demand Analysis (PDAs).
- Assist with calendar management for the WFD Manager.
- Provides “back room” support to labor negotiations team. Researches cost of providing current level benefits, wage information, creating benefits comparisons, and any other information requested by team.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent.
- 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with all levels of employees.
- Ability to consult with management on personnel matters, and to establish rapport with labor unions, professional personnel, and community organizations.
- Excellent administrative, organizational, presentation, and implementation skills required.
- Strong ability in using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must be able to prioritize and work simultaneously on several projects, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Ability to shift priorities when required.
- Ability to operate within a team atmosphere.
