In Delano, we serve over 1,800 students in grades TK-12, while in Lost Hills, we serve over 400 students in grades TK-12.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Student Experience, the Expanded Learning Coordinator (ELC) is responsible for supporting the organizational effort to develop innovative and expanded learning opportunities for students outside of school day hours, including after school and intersession (non-student days). Due to the nature of this role, ELC must maintain a high level of ethical and professional behavior due to access to confidential student information about Wonderful College Prep Academy scholars. ELC will be required to participate in and perform ongoing staff professional development activities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Under the direction of the Expanded Learning Manager, provides support services to the Expanded Learning Program.
  • Assists with interviews and evaluations, as needed, for the Expanded Learning Program staff.
  • Meets with Expanded Learning Manager for the purpose of reviewing and coordinating student activities and learning new instructional techniques
  • Under the direction of the Expanded Learning Manager, guides and supports staff for the purpose of ensuring program success
  • Completes regular site visits to assess program and safety implementation, program delivery and implements procedures that will improve services to students in both Delano and Lost Hills campus
  • Implements instructional learning activities for the purpose of improving students’ academic, physical, and social skills.
  • Assists Expanded Learning Manager with scheduling guest speakers, clinics, and excursions relevant to the program.
  • Interacts with parents to promote the program
  • Organizes and facilitates Family Nights
  • Provides guidance to site leads
  • Collaborates with site administration on facilities, school safety, student issues, and concerns
  • Works in the position of Site and/or Activity Leader in the event that no substitute staff member has been secured.
  • Conduct and facilitate professional development for all program staff and provide onsite coaching support to all staff.
  • Monitor Expanded Learning Program to ensure all required program components: academic support, physical activity, and enrichment activities are in alignment with the program quality standards.
  • Attend any training offered by WCPA, CDE, or the grant administration, as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge:

  • Minimum of three (3) years prior experience working in an expanded learning environment.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with students, families, and staff of diverse ethnic, racial, cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)0
  • Reliable transportation and a valid CA driver's license.
  • Ability to fluently speak Spanish preferred.
  • CPR & First Aid certificated
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Strong leadership skills in planning and implementing activities
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check (including fingerprints) upon official offer and acceptance of a position with WCPA.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Office environment; fast-paced work, constant interruptions.
  • Physical requirements: Hearing and speaking to exchange information, make presentations, and communicate over the telephone; seeing to read, prepare, and proofread documents and view computer monitors; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light objects; ability to go to sites apart from primary office to conduct business.

Pay Range: $68,640 - $75,000. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.

  • Wonderful College Prep Academy offers highly competitive compensation, commensurate with experience.
  • Full-time staff benefits include medical coverage, dental, vision, and life insurance at no cost to the employee. We also offer an optional 403b, with company match, as a supplement to the STRS retirement pension. In addition, employees have free access to the Wonderful Wellness Center and gym.
