Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Global Partner Engineering and Operations (PE&O) team is an essential part of Stripe’s broader Global Partnerships organization and a cornerstone of our success. We are responsible for driving new partner implementations and programs while ensuring the efficiency and reliability of both new and existing partnerships. Positioned at the intersection of engineering and our partners, we serve as a vital link that fosters seamless collaboration, which is crucial for Stripe’s rapid growth trajectory.

The PE&O team comprises a hybrid mix of both technical and non-technical professionals focused on operational execution with financial ecosystem partners critical for our growth and adoption. We ensure smooth technical onboarding and implementation with partners, manage recurring KTLO (Keep-The-Lights-On) operations, and monitor stringent quality and performance targets. Our team also drives partner-agnostic programs and initiatives to address broad ecosystem challenges and builds technical solutions and tools that enhance operational efficiency and scalability.

As a dynamic and versatile team, we take on a variety of responsibilities daily. On any given day, you can find us driving alignment and coordination among cross-functional teams and partners on critical operational activities, analyzing insights and trends from our data to inform decision-making, and developing tools and processes to scale our impact. The partnerships we cultivate are not just instrumental—they significantly influence Stripe’s ecosystem, and the products born from these collaborations touch millions of users worldwide.

What you’ll do

As the Partner Engineering Lead, you will take on a strategic leadership role that combines business acumen with technical expertise to drive our technical partner engagement strategy. You will lead our Partner Engineering team, ensuring robust technical support and successful integration of our solutions for our financial ecosystem partners. In this pivotal position, you will act as the key liaison between our partners and internal teams, fostering strong relationships that are essential to achieving our business goals.

In this first-of-its-kind hybrid leadership role within Stripe Global Partnerships, you will collaborate closely with the Global Head of Partner Engineering & Operations (PE&O) to develop and execute a strategic vision that aligns with Stripe’s overall business objectives. You will be responsible for identifying organizational gaps and opportunities for technical impact, proposing new projects and initiatives that contribute to Stripe’s growth priorities.

Additionally, you will oversee programs and initiatives focused on process automation and the development of better tools for internal operations. This will involve assessing current workflows, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions that enhance operational efficiency and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, articulate, and execute the overarching partner engineering strategy, aligning it with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define partner engagement initiatives and prioritize projects based on business impact and partner needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Partner Engineering team to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and partner satisfaction.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a new and high-performing team of Partner Engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key technology partners across the financial ecosystem (banks, card networks, local payment methods, and more); ensuring alignment on technical integration and collaborative initiatives.
  • Work closely with technical account managers to serve as the primary technical liaison for our top strategic partnerships, addressing technical inquiries and facilitating seamless communication.
  • Collaborate with core product management/engineering, and partnerships teams to ensure alignment on partner requirements and strategic initiatives.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of partner engineering initiatives on business success.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in partner engineering, solutions engineering, or a related technical discipline, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of software solutions, APIs, integration technologies, and the payments partner ecosystem.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and managing cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering exceptional partner and customer experiences.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in enterprise software or SaaS technology environments.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and agile methodologies.
  • Previous experience in partner relationship management and business development.
  • Strong track record of building automation and tools to improve internal business processes
  • Knowledge of payments industry regulations and compliance standards relevant to technology solutions.

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $258,000 - $387,000. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
