Why do we need you ?

NorPro seeking a highly motivated and skilled R&D Engineer specializing in ceramic processing to join our innovative research and development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials science and engineering, with a specific focus on the synthesis, characterization, and application of porous ceramics. This role will involve both hands-on laboratory work, data analysis, scale-up and production support.

As a Research Engineer, you'll lead and support R&D projects in areas like process and product development, application technology, and process measurement. You'll collaborate with a talented team of engineers and external customers, conduct experiments, analyze data, and present your findings. This is a great opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that impact manufacturing and technology development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead R&D Projects: Manage and lead multiple R&D projects through the entire process, including pilot development, scale-up, and implementation. Ensure projects stay on track with timelines and budget constraints while meeting business and customer objectives.

  • Research and Innovation: Conduct in-depth research to improve existing products and processes, develop new technologies, and drive innovation. Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate the latest advancements into your projects.

  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, engineers, application teams, and external customers to align on project goals and deliverables. Share expertise and integrate ideas from various team members to enhance project success.

  • Experiment Design & Execution: Design and execute laboratory experiments to test new ideas and technologies. Analyze experimental data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to refine processes and improve performance.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Interpret experimental data, draw conclusions, and document findings in technical memos, research reports, and presentations. Communicate results clearly and effectively to stakeholders, both orally and in writing.

  • Project Management: Develop and maintain project timelines, plans, and documentation. Manage day-to-day operations of projects, ensuring progress is on schedule and objectives are met. Maintain comprehensive records of all experiments and results.

  • Support and Mentor Team Members: Offer technical support for projects led by others and collaborate to solve complex challenges. Provide guidance to junior team members and encourage a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

  • Adhere to Gate Process Methodology: Utilize the Gate Process methodology throughout all stages of research projects, from initial concept through pilot and scale-up, to ensure structured, efficient development and execution.

Is this job for you ?

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science or Engineering, Chemical Engineer, Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Ph.D. or M.S. is preferred. Exact level of entry will be dependent on degree level and years of experience.
  • Experience with ceramic or materials processing and ISO 9000 quality standards.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with manufacturing processes/equipment is desired.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, data analysis, and ability to present findings clearly.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and team-working skills.
