Associate Failure Analysis Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Peloton Quality team is a multidisciplinary team that engages across the engineering and operations organization to help develop, test, and validate our hardware that push the boundaries of Industrial Design, User Experience and Performance to deliver best in class products that lead the fitness industry. We are looking for an experienced Technician specializing in Failure Analysis or Material Analysis to join our growing team. You will work with a team of Failure Analysis, ME and Reliability engineers and collaborate with design and manufacturing teams.
YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON
- Support Failure Analysis investigations by measuring and documenting material properties, structure and critical geometries
- Operate various pieces of laboratory equipment to generate data, perform materials characterization testing, or preparation of test samples
- Collect data for specific investigations as well as informing the broader business of failure modes and future best practice by means of technical documentation and presentation materials
- Assist in day-to-day organization of the lab, including ordering consumables, maintenance of chemical inventory, sample organization and tracking, etc.
- When required provides expertise on future test methods.
YOU BRING TO PELOTON
- Communication at all levels
- Experience with thermal and elemental analysis equipment
- Experience working in a Materials Lab environment
- Have or working towards completing B.S. in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience in operating thermal (DSC, TGA, DMA, FTIR) and elemental analysis equipment (SPARK-OES, SEM-EDS)
- Opening cracks under investigation and sectioning down parts to create samples small enough to be analyzed by various methods
- Expertise operating SEM, hardness machines, digital microscopes
- Macroscopic and Microscopic photography expertise and attention to photography detail
- Experience with cross section preparation, polishing, and metallographic etching
- Ability to record and keep track of sample serializations and orientations
- Ability to organize data and create charts that effectively represent the data
