*This role follows a flexible hybrid schedule, with in-office presence required two days per week. While Wednesdays are designated as a collaborative in-office day, the second day can be coordinated with the team to best suit your schedule.

How you will help

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering is responsible for a team that delivers best-in-class technologies that power data-driven insights across the healthcare industry. The manager will lead & build a team of cross functional engineers working together to execute on our product and technical roadmap.

What you will do

  • Lead and Grow Your Team: Manage, mentor, and hire a team of 5-8 talented Software Engineers. Your role as a hands-on technical leader will ensure your team consistently delivers high-quality, impactful results.
  • Demonstrate Ownership: Take full accountability for your team's success, from technical excellence to delivering value on critical initiatives. You’ll own the outcomes, driving the team to deliver on strategic goals while ensuring a strong alignment with Product Management.
  • Be a Technical Champion: Actively participate in architecture and design reviews, contribute to code, and stay engaged in solving technical challenges. Your leadership will guide the team in building scalable, robust solutions.
  • Align on Outcomes: Partner closely with Product Management to ensure alignment on priorities and that the team is focused on achieving key results.
  • Foster Growth: Conduct regular check-ins with your team, establish and implement training programs, and create a culture that fosters continuous learning and development.
  • Build a Team-First Culture: Cultivate a collaborative, inclusive environment where every team member feels valued and empowered to contribute to the team's success.
  • Career Development: Take ownership of the career growth of your team members by creating individualized development plans, offering coaching, and guiding them towards greater responsibilities.

  • Technical Excellence: Deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality software that aligns with business goals while empowering teams to innovate and excel.
  • High Participation and Engagement: Consistently high engagement and decision making in meetings, retrospectives, and feedback sessions, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Timely Goal Achievement: A high percentage of goals met on time, with features delivered efficiently and minimal need for rework or issue resolution.
  • Effective Continuous Feedback: Regular and impactful feedback loops that lead to measurable improvements in team and individual performance.
  • Consistent Quality in Deployments: High standards of quality and performance maintained across all deployments, demonstrated by minimal bugs, high system uptime, and strong performance metrics.
  • Career Growth and Retention: High retention rates and strong career advancement opportunities, reflected in frequent promotions and consistently reviewed and updated development plans for all team members.

Required skills and experience

  • 3+ years of experience managing an Engineering team
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering
  • History of delivering software in an Agile framework
  • Experience building and maintaining software within AWS

Base salary for the role is commensurate with experience and can range between $120,000 - $185,000 + annual bonus opportunity.

Hiring Locations

We prioritize hiring team members from the Philadelphia area whenever possible, as our main office is located in Center City, Philadelphia, where we operate on a hybrid model with in-office work required two days a week. However, for certain roles, we’re also open to hiring from our hub locations, where we have groups of remote workers. Please note that, due to tax and labor regulations, we can only hire from specific states, but remote work is supported in the following key hubs and approved states:
