This position is an impactful and strategic role for the enterprise compliance leadership team leading a team of compliance professionals focused on operating key components of an effective compliance program and providing strategic leadership to drive a data-driven compliance program. This position reports to the UHG Chief Compliance Officer and will partner closely with the Optum Compliance Officer, UHC Compliance Officer, the enterprise enablement team, as well as the UHC and UHG compliance leadership teams.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage large team of compliance professionals dedicated to operationalizing key components of an effective compliance program serving the broader enterprise, including:
- Driving thorough and timely completion of compliance-related investigations, Employee Relations investigations and Insider Risk investigations. Identify relevant information to provide analysis for compliance leadership, executive leadership and board of directors/audit committee reporting.
- Developing, implementing, and updating as needed policies to promote compliance with our Code of Conduct, applicable laws and contractual obligations
- Developing, implementing, and updating as necessary training, awareness and educational materials and programs to support a culture of compliance
- Conducting annual enterprise compliance risk assessments in partnership with other compliance stakeholders
- Conducting ongoing monitoring and auditing of key risk areas in partnership with other compliance stakeholders
- Supporting enforcement of standards through well-publicized disciplinary guidelines in partnership with the People team and other stakeholders
- Supporting prompt remediation to detected offenses and undertake corrective action
- Driving the evolution in managing our key enterprise compliance risks, including:
- Building out the key risk steward program
- Driving the strategy to become a data-driven compliance team focusing on key enterprise risks including: (x) leveraging data analytics to make compliance operations more efficient and evaluate the overall performance of the compliance function, (y) quickly accessing data and information to identify – as soon as possible – potential misconduct or shortcomings in their compliance program and (z) taking steps to ensure that the data used to power the analytics is accurate and that the analytical models function correctly
- Influencing, leading and collaborating with enterprise legal and compliance partners and with matrixed business partners across the enterprise

Required Qualifications:
- JD or other relevant advanced degree preferred or at least 10 years of relevant compliance and regulatory experience
- 5+ years of experience supervising and building large teams
- Solid bias for action and proven track record driving outcomes cross-functionally through teams
- Comfortable with the use of data analytics and technology solutions to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate potential compliance risks and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of compliance processes
- Solid knowledge of compliance and regulatory matters relevant to the health care industry
- Solid communication skills and business acumen
- Experience working with senior executives
- Self-starter with proven track record of driving results in heavily matrixed environment
- Solid leadership skills with demonstrated ability in managing and developing others, including leading large teams
- Collaborative, innovative, accountable and agile team leader
- Excellent strategic decision-making, analytic, influence and communication (written and verbal) skills

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $250,000 to $325,000 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
