  • This position manages and produces highly complex proposals for the Enterprise Imaging team within Growth Proposal Services (GPS) team at Optum Insight

  • We seek a strategic and results-oriented Senior Proposal Manager to lead the development and execution of complex proposals for our enterprise imaging products

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Proposals in this market are complex and demand exceptional project management skills. They involve numerous RFP attachments, complex forms, and multiple volumes, requiring an experienced proposal manager who has demonstrated success in navigating complex bids, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and leading the development of winning proposals
  • Independently manage the entire RFP lifecycle, including kickoff meetings, SME assignments, first draft preparation, status reporting, draft reviews, compliance, production, and final delivery
  • Conduct a thorough RFx analysis to develop a compliant proposal structure
  • Develop a comprehensive proposal management plan outlining RFP sections and associated deadlines
  • Establish and enforce the proposal timeline and update as needed
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support for meetings, including scheduling, minute-taking, action item tracking, and documentation
  • Utilize proposal software (Responsive/RFPIO) to manage the end-to-end proposal development process
  • Collaborate closely with the sales lead to align proposal content with client strategy, win themes, and solution benefits
  • Drive proposal development through collaborative coaching to incorporate customer-centric messaging and compelling win themes
  • Lead the vendor clarification process, collect questions from the proposal team, organize questions based on RFx requirements, submit questions to customer by clarification deadline and distribute responses to proposal team
  • Track and communicate all RFx amendments to the team
  • Ensure proposals are compliant with customer requirements, proposal guidelines, and company standards
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks in collaboration with the proposal team
  • Build and maintain solid partnerships with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, production, finance, legal, and sales, to ensure proposal success
  • Track and report the status of all the proposal requirements during team calls
  • Participate in process development initiatives including coaching sessions and storyboarding
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support including scheduling meetings, distributing meeting minutes, tracking action items, and preparing documentation
  • Coordinate with quality editors, proposal designers, and other key resources to assemble and finalize the proposal package, ensuring adherence to formatting, compliance, and quality standards
  • Support sales teams by handling RFx through all stages of RFP process, including clarification questions, follow up requests, and Best and Final Offers (BAFO)

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of proposal management experience, ideally within the healthcare technology industry. Medical Imaging experience is a plus
  • Experience using Responsive (fka RFPIO), or similar proposal management software (Loopio, Qvidian)
  • Experience in applying a style guide and advanced word formatting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint), Adobe Acrobat, and MS Teams. Demonstrated ability to create and manage complex documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and workflows within these platforms
  • Proven solid analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated by the ability to rapidly analyze complex RFPs and develop kickoff materials
  • Proven solid interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams
  • Proven solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Proven exceptional project management skills such as developing and executing detailed project plans, managing competing priorities, and consistently meeting deadlines
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Shipley Certification
  • APMP Certification
  • Healthcare technology, technology, software, SaaS experience
  • Medical imaging experience
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline driven environment

Total Compensation. As part of your total compensation package, which includes base, bonus opportunity, PTO and holiday pay, you will also receive these benefits at these rates, not to mention a remote work opportunity and healthy work/life balance.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
