POST-HARVEST TECHNICIAN

Enza Zaden Research USA, located in San Juan Bautista, CA, is seeking a driven individual to become a part of our team.

What will your role entail?

As a Laboratory Technician, you will assist in conducting testing focused on the postharvest quality and shelf-life of vegetable products. This will involve adhering to specific regulations, protocols, and instructions to generate quality data that contributes to research programs.

  • Independent execution of daily experiments involving the correct use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
  • Reading, understanding, and interpreting the experimental protocols, signaling errors and proposing improvements.
  • Planning of the assigned daily activities, as well as overseeing the overall progress of the department.
  • Taking the initiative with possible bottlenecks in planning and informing Team Lead.
  • Co-working with laboratory technicians, interns, and contract labors.
  • Independent data collection to ensure on-time delivery of data and reporting.
  • Supporting the postharvest team with data analysis, as needed.
  • Co-responsible for a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your power

You are proactive, able to identify opportunities, and possess excellent communication skills. With a research-oriented mindset, you have a keen interest in the seed sector. You are well-organized and adhere to safety protocols. While you can work independently, you also thrive in cross-functional and intercultural project teams.

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural or biological discipline (e.g., food science, biology, plant science, botany, horticulture, agronomy).
  • 3 to 5 years of training and experience relevant to the job.
  • Ability to work with basic lab equipment and related computer systems.
  • Ability to work with different crops and chemicals in the prescribed and safe manner.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • A thorough understanding of English, both verbal and written is required.
  • The ability to speak and understand Spanish is highly desired.
  • Have basic knowledge and practice of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Power Point, Word).
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Compensation & Benefits:

The following information is provided in good faith as a general description of the pay range and benefits for the position posted. The compensation offered to the successful candidate depends on experience, skills, education, work location, and other objective job-related factors.

Estimated starting pay range $21.00 - $26.00 per hour.
