The Role

We're seeking a Business Development Manager to facilitate strategic connections between our Limited Partners (Japanese corporations) and innovative technology startups. This role requires exceptional problem-solving abilities and persistence. Operating across two distinct business cultures, you'll spend approximately 60% of your time working with US-based startups and 40% engaging with Japanese corporate partners, requiring flexibility to operate effectively across both markets.

The ideal candidate thrives in complex situations, can identify creative solutions to undefined problems, and has the tenacity to pursue opportunities through long sales cycles.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership Development

  • Promote DNX’s portfolios for partnership with the Japanese corporate partners
  • Source and evaluate promising US technology companies that align with the Japanese corporate strategic interests
  • Identify and Analyze emerging technology trends and startups that could represent both strategic partnership and investment opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Japanese corporate partners across various sectors including electronics, insurance, banking, retail, heavy machinery, and system integration
  • Navigate Japanese corporate culture to identify key decision-makers and budget owners
  • Guide startups through the Japanese business landscape and corporate adoption process
  • Work closely with startups to ensure their solutions align with Japanese corporate requirements

Market Development

  • Understand corporate LP needs across various sectors and identify opportunities to help them with technology adoption
  • Support portfolio companies in their expansion into the Japanese market
  • Stay current with emerging technology trends and their potential applications for Japanese corporations
  • Develop strategies to introduce innovative solutions to Japanese corporate partners

Required Qualifications

  • Experience bringing technology solutions into large enterprises, through either: Enterprise software sales or business development; Management consulting focused on digital transformation; Corporate development or strategy; Similar roles involving technology adoption in large organizations
  • Strong presentation skills, especially for executive-level audiences
  • Experience in technology sales cycles with large enterprises
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizational structures
  • 4-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Japanese language native proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Understanding of Japanese corporate culture and business practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree
  • Experience in or familiarity with multiple technology sectors (AI, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, climate tech)
  • Prior experience working with startups
  • Existing relationships with Japanese corporations
