Position Overview
A successful Systems Engineer must have a thorough knowledge of computer software, hardware, internet applications, networks, and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also understand process design, and project management, have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail, knowledge of metrics and presentation skills, and be able to lead others in these respects.
The goal is to enhance computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology in business sustainability.
What You'll Be Working On
Duties include but not limited to:
· Perform advanced troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems and major incidents, escalating to the vendor as needed
· Participate in research, planning, implementation, and support of ongoing projects
· Configure server and cloud systems for optimal performance and security settings
· Ensure proposed applications and server-class systems meet functionality requirements
· Install and configure server and cloud systems and applications according to specifications
· Provide orientation and guidance to administrators on how to manage new systems/applications
· Maintain server and cloud maintenance schedule (software updates, hardware life cycle, etc.) without impacting enterprise productivity
· Write and maintain scripts for automation of routine tasks, including deployments, backups, monitoring, and performance tuning.
· Help ensure security and privacy of data residing on computer systems
· Participate in the hiring and onboarding of IT staff members
· Motivate, orient, and guide system administrators in technical duties
Physical and Travel Requirements
· This is a remote position with less than 10% travel requirements. Occasional planned travel may be required as part of the role.
What You Bring
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· 7+ years’ proven experience as a Systems Administrator (or related) role
· 3+ years of experience with enterprise customers, preferably as a subject matter expert.
· Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
· Excellent communication ability
· Excellent organizational and time-management skills
· In-depth understanding of diverse systems and networks, including cloud platforms
· Demonstrated proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Azure, and Office 365
· Demonstrated proficiency in large-scale endpoint systems administration
· Demonstrable understanding of risk management, internet security, and data privacy principles
· Knowledge of HIPAA, GCP, and other regulatory standards
Certifications/Licenses, Education, and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, Information Technology, or relevant field, or equivalent experience.
· Microsoft Certifications with a focus in Microsoft 365 and Azure are strongly preferred.
