The Functional and API Automation SIT (System Integration Testing) Tester is responsible for ensuring that software applications meet business and technical requirements by automating functional and API tests. This role involves working closely with the development and quality assurance teams to design, implement, and execute automated tests to validate system behavior and API interactions in an integrated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Test Automation Development:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated functional and API test scripts.
  • Use automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Postman, RestAssured, JUnit, TestNG) to create test scripts that validate application functionality and API endpoints.
  • System Integration Testing (SIT):
  • Perform end-to-end integration testing to ensure the interaction between different systems, applications, and services is seamless.
  • Validate data flow, service dependencies, and API calls in the integrated environment.

Test Case Design & Execution:

  • Develop comprehensive test plans and test cases for functional and API testing based on requirements and design specifications.
  • Execute automated test cases and report defects found during test execution.
  • API Testing: Create automated tests to validate RESTful and SOAP web services using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or RestAssured.
  • Test various API functionalities such as request/response, status codes, error handling, security, and performance.

Defect Reporting & Documentation:

  • Report bugs, issues, and inconsistencies found during testing to the development team and track their resolution.
  • Document test cases, test scripts, and results for future reference and compliance purposes.
  • Work with developers, business analysts, and other team members to understand functional requirements and ensure proper test coverage.
  • Provide feedback on application design and integration points based on testing results.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuously improve test automation frameworks and processes for better efficiency and coverage.
  • Ensure that automated tests are maintained and updated with each new software release.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of functional testing and API testing.
  • Experience with test automation tools like Selenium, Postman, RestAssured, JUnit, or TestNG.
  • Hands-on experience with integrating test cases into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab).
  • Knowledge of web services (REST, SOAP) and related technologies (JSON, XML).
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL for validating test data.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in working with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Experience with performance and load testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner) is a plus.
  • This role ensures the stability and reliability of applications and their integrations by automating functional and API tests, streamlining testing processes, and reducing manual intervention.
