Reporting directly to the Director - North America Sourcing, this role will be charged with leading the Direct Materials sourcing strategy, contracting, and supplier management for US Operating Units (OU’s). This role is responsible to understand new and existing technologies and processes across direct materials categories, and how to leverage existing and new supplier relationships in support of the future. This leader will drive efficiency, cost reduction, and transformation across direct material categories. The individual is accountable for driving projects cross functionally and driving innovation through best practices to attain best-in-class status to meet the business goals that drive margin expansion, enable revenue growth, and ultimately, meet the needs of the business.
Role Responsibilities
- Partner with materials category suppliers to have preferred “A” status in ABC of customers.
- Negotiate mid/long terms contracts and agreements with materials category supplier partners to guarantee continuity of supply, quality performance, innovation, and cost performance.
- Develop and manage suppliers business continuity plans (BCP), a resilience culture, and diversity approach in support of strategic objectives.
- Regular communications with internal stakeholders to advance any potential issue with the aim of reaction time and reschedule what needed.
- Develop and manage material cost budgets and forecasting alongside finance and business partners.
- Leadership focused on recruiting, hiring, developing, assessing, mentoring, engaging, coaching, leading, and retaining diverse and high-performing team members.
- Lead a knowledgeable, effective, and trusted team with a focus on the Customer.
- Develop and leverage strong relationships with key stakeholders – Global Sourcing, Operations, Planning, Packaging Development, Finance. Develop and sustain a continuous improvement culture across the Sourcing organization
Qualifications
- Skills: sourcing, supplier relationship management, commercial & legal negotiation, contracting, influence & persuasion, able to close a deal, build cross-functional rapport
- Deep understanding and expertise in manufacturing, planning, sourcing, and procurement processes
- Proven track record in a Sourcing / Procurement role (10+ years’ experience) as well as leading and providing guidance to teams across multiple geographies (5+ years).
- Experience managing suppliers across multiple materials categories.
- Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model cost breakdown
- Ability to calculate cost (PPV) and P/L impact of sourcing alternatives and decisions.
- Able to use spreadsheet (formulas, calculations, and analysis) and create PowerPoint presentations.
- Interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams up to Executive level
- Presentation skills: Public speaking / presenting to groups
- Effective time management / prioritization skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Manufacturing. MBA (preferred)
- Must be willing to travel up to 30%
